Every Jaipur winter has a handful of perfect days. Sharp blue skies, sun you actually want on your face, and evenings cold enough for a shawl and a fire. Most of us spend them indoors, at a mall or in traffic.
There's a better way to use them.
Winter is a different kind of stay
In summer, Om Kanta Farms is about the pool. In winter, it's about everything around it.
The days are for the garden: 3,000 square yards of lawn in soft winter sun, a long lunch outdoors, badminton or cricket with the kids, an afternoon nap on a lounger. The evenings belong to the bonfire and the Farmhouse Tavern, the lounge and dining room with its fireplace, where the conversation tends to run late.
The pool is still the centrepiece. Lit up at night, steam drifting off it on a cold evening, it's one of the prettiest things on the property. We'll be honest, though: it isn't heated. In December and January a swim is for the brave, best around midday when the sun is strongest. Most winter guests are happy to sit beside it.
A winter weekend at the farm
Arrive after lunch. Check-in is from 2 PM. The drive down Ajmer Road takes about 20 minutes from the city, so you're at the gate before the afternoon light turns gold.
The golden hour. Winter sunsets over the fields are the best part of the day. Get a chair onto the lawn, put the kettle on and watch the sky change.
Bonfire and BBQ. As the cold comes in, the bonfire goes up. Bring skewers, order in, or let us arrange the food. We offer in-house catering, or you can bring your own caterer. Guests bring their own drinks.
The Tavern after 10. Outdoor music winds down at 10 PM out of respect for our neighbours. That's when the evening moves inside to the Tavern, with the fireplace, the long dining table and the music back up.
A slow morning. Breakfast in the sun, a walk around the garden, nobody in a hurry. Checkout is at 11 AM.
Christmas week and New Year's Eve
These are the most requested dates of the year, and for good reason. A private villa is the easiest way to see in the new year with exactly the people you want: no cover charges, no crowded restaurants, and no drive home at 1 AM.
A typical New Year's Eve here goes like this: dinner around the bonfire, then everyone moves into the Tavern before ten for the countdown by the fire, and the whole group wakes up in the same place the next morning.
If you're planning one of these dates, ask early. They are almost always the first to go.
Two set-ups, depending on your group
You always get the whole property, with the pool, gardens and Tavern to yourselves. Only the number of bedrooms changes.
2-Bedroom set-up (Wildflower Suite + Cosy Nest): for up to 8 guests, with room for a couple more. Ideal for a family or a close group of friends.
3-Bedroom set-up (adds the Signature Suite): for up to 12 guests, with room for a few more. Right for two or three families travelling together, or a bigger friends' reunion.
Not sure which fits? Tell us your headcount on WhatsApp and we'll suggest one.
